Dōteki “reinvents the battle category”, says TOMY
TOMY has launched Dōteki, a new line of battle toys.
The result of a collaboration between TOMY and design studio Designbytouch, Dōteki sees players build custom arenas and compete using handheld battle controllers that test ‘reflexes, precision and strategic thinking’.
The ion ball ricochets through the arena as players aim, block and fight to protect their target. The sets also come with trading cards, collectable characters and pop-out health keys.
“We set out to create an innovative new brand where kids aren’t just just watching the action – they are the action,” said Julie Gwaltney, VP of Toys at TOMY International.
“Dōteki brings together competitive play, the thrill of customisation and the sensory satisfaction of movement-based battles in a way that reinvents the battle category. It’s designed to engage today’s kids in a whole new way, and we’re proud to lead the charge.”
The current Dōteki range spans battle training sets ideal for solo practice, as well as multiplayer battle packs suited to instant battles and unique match-ups.
