Exploding Kittens has reimagined Cocktail Games’ Top Ten as That Escalated Quickly.

Exploding Kittens secured the rights to develop the English-language version of one of Top Ten – a 2022 Spiel Des Jahres nominee – last year.

“That Escalated Quickly might just be our funniest game yet,” said Elan Lee, Co-Creator and CEO of Exploding Kittens.

“In true Exploding Kittens style, we’re giving you the canvas to have an amazing time with your family and friends. It requires equal parts creativity and absurdity, and your success hinges on how well you understand everyone’s sense of humour.”

That Escalated Quickly kicks off with a player reading out a question card. Each card sets up a scenario, like “I’m jumping out of an airplane. When I pull the ripcord, what comes out of my pack?” The other players are assigned a secret number between one and 10, which will determine how they answer the question based on the scale provided by the card.

In the case of the airplane scenario, players answer with one being the “least effective” to 10 being the “most effective”. The player who read the original question must correctly rank the numerical order of each player’s answer. If the player guesses the correct order, everyone wins.

Matthieu d’Epenoux, Owner of Cocktail Games, added: “Top Ten has been a fan-favourite party game in Europe since its 2020 release and we hope That Escalated Quickly will see just as much success across the pond.

“Exploding Kittens is so beloved for its hilarious gameplay and passionate fanbase, so we knew they’d be the perfect partner to capture the experience for an English-speaking audience.”

That Escalated Quickly is available now at Target, Target.com, and ExplodingKittens.com for $19.99. The game will be available soon at Amazon and Walmart.
