Quebec-based publisher Le Scorpion Masqué has detailed Tag Team, a new fighting game from designers Gricha German and Corentin Lebrat.

Tag Team features 12 different fighters, each with their own techniques and special moves. Players build their dream team and play cards one after the other, applying their effects. Between each round of combat, players strategically add new cards to their deck to create combos and dominate opponents.

“Tag Team promises that every fight is a new gaming experience,” said Manuel Sanchez, Head of Studio at Scorpion Masqué.

“You can create up to 66 different teams and an infinite number of builds and winning strategies. I’ve rarely played the same game so much, and yet every game still surprises me! With the help of over 200 testers and after more than 1,600 games played to fine-tune the balance of the fighters, we’re ready to welcome lots of players into the arena.”

Gricha German, co-designer, added: “The first prototype of Tag Team was a very simple game, where a wolf faced off against a village in an asymmetrical and minimalist confrontation. But over time, it took an unexpected turn; it became deeper through the concept of character teams, allowing for even more asymmetry, different tactics, and surprise comebacks!”

Corentin Lebrat, co-designer, said: “I was immediately drawn to the idea of Tag Team. Then we were able to inject it with rhythm, tension, and a real build-up to make it an experience that is as explosive as it is addictive! I can’t stop playing.”

Tag Team launches at the end of September.
