Job Description

Junior/Mid-weight Designer

Designbytouch ltd, Leamington Spa, England, United Kingdom

Hybrid/Full-time

Company Description
We work with the biggest toy companies in the world: LEGO, Hasbro, Spinmaster, Moose, Disney, Playmobil (to name just a few) to create toys that not only delight and engage kids across the globe, but which also make our jobs the most fun a designer can have outside of Tony Starks workshop. We’ve got a great studio in the centre of Leamington Spa, and have all the gadgets and gizmos you need to create great designs.

Role Description
Working within an expert team of designers, 2D and 3D artists, videographers and engineers, we are looking for a strong CAD designer with a good eye for design and play, who is equally happy producing fast ‘looks like’ CAD for presentation and testing, iterating on CAD designs for prototyping, and delving into the detail for mass production.

Playing within our toybox of rapid-prototyping machines and fully equipped workshop, you will be part of a small team working with the biggest clients in the industry and the hottest brands.

As a Junior/Mid-weight Designer at Designbytouch, you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Designers in the development of new and innovative toy designs that align with our client’s needs. Projects will vary from fast paced quick turnaround visuals, to longer term detailed engineering or animation briefs. You will work in a collaborative environment of designers and engineers to create and communicate products for all age groups. This is a full-time hybrid Junior/Mid-weight Designer role located in Leamington Spa, with the flexibility to work remotely.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or Product Design (or equivalent work experience)
• 1-3 years of experience in toy design or relevant field
• Strong 3D design skills in modelling and conceptualising
• Ability to translate sketches to 3D products accurately
• Strong ability to design and create toy mechanisms both digitally and through physical prototypes
• Experience with 3D printing and building out mechanisms in the workshop
• Full knowledge of either Rhino 3D or Fusion 360 3d modelling software
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes
• Ability to interpret feedback and adjust designs accordingly
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
