LEGO debuts One Piece sets
LEGO, Netflix and Tomorrow Studios have debuted the first wave of LEGO One Piece sets.
“Bringing the Straw Hat Pirates in LEGO brick form to fans worldwide has been a dream assignment”, said Yi-Chien Cheng, Associate Design Lead on LEGO One Piece.
“I have always been a big fan of the story of One Piece and it was so exciting to work with the team on building all the details from some of our favourite locations and scenes in the live-action Netflix show in brick form. I cannot wait for fans of both the LEGO Group and One Piece to get their hands on these sets and start charting their own courses into the Grand Line.”
The 1,376-piece Going Merry Pirate Ship set features a large, printed sail showcasing the Jolly Roger skull, while the 926-piece Battle at Arlong Park set recreates the showdown between the Straw Hat Pirates and their rivals. This set comes with Minifigures of Monkey D. Luffy, Nami, Usopp, Arlong and Chu.
Elsewhere the LEGO One Piece Buggy the Clown’s Circus Tent set includes three circus contraptions from which the heroes must escape: a water tank, spinning vertical table and a hanging cage. The set features Buggy the Clown, Monkey D. Luffy, Nami and Zoro in their Minifigure form.
The 299-piece Windmill Village Hut set comes with Minifigures of Monkey D. Luffy, Shanks and Makino. The Hut boasts a detachable roof, while the beachside store holds a raft of accessories.
For adult fans, the 3,402-piece LEGO One Piece The Baratie Floating Restaurant set gives fans the chance to dock the Going Merry and recreate Zoro and Mihawk’s sword battle, with unique play functions. The restaurant includes 10 Minifigures, including the Straw Hat Pirates, Zeff, Vice Admiral Garp, Helmeppo, Koby and Dracule Mihawk.
Each set includes one or more of eight collectable Wanted posters.
LEGO is also adding One Piece characters to its BrickHeadz line, with figures based on Monkey D. Luffy and Buggy the Clown set to be available exclusively in LEGO Retail stores and on www.LEGO.com.
“It’s an incredible opportunity for Netflix and the LEGO Group to deliver something so meaningful and authentic to One Piece fans around the world,” said Josh Simon, Vice President of Consumer Products and Experiences at Netflix.
“The overwhelming feedback received from when we first teased the line was phenomenal. It was clear that this was a collection the fans have been wanting for a very long time. We’re thrilled to bring fan favourite moments from both the franchise and the Netflix series in this collection and deliver a grand adventure for Straw Hat fans around the world.”
LEGO’s One Piece sets are available from August 1st.
