Centenary edition of Destination Portsmouth game to raise funds for Cash for Kids South Coast

Rachel Lowe MBE – creator of the Destination board game series – has created a special centenary edition of Destination Portsmouth to celebrate Portsmouth’s 100th anniversary since being granted city status in 1926.
The project will also support Cash for Kids South Coast, a charity dedicated to helping children living in poverty across the region.
Destination Portsmouth 100 will feature 100 destinations, historical landmarks, independent businesses and cultural locations spanning a full century of Portsmouth’s history. Destinations featured will include Chapman’s Laundry, the McMurdo Factory, Hilsea Gas Works, The Birdcage and many more.
“Portsmouth is where the Destination story began, so creating a centenary edition of the game to celebrate 100 years of Portsmouth’s city status feels like a full-circle moment,” said Rachel Lowe MBE, Founder of Rachel Lowe Games & Puzzles.
“I want to see as many Portsmouth businesses and landmarks represented in this game as possible, and I’d encourage anyone who loves this city to get involved. I’ve been working with Cash for Kids for several years, and it is a charity very close to my heart. I’m proud to have created an opportunity to raise funds that will directly benefit children in Portsmouth.”
As part of the project, more than half of the Destination sponsorship opportunities within the game will help Cash for Kids South Coast raise funds for local children. Southsea Laser Clinic has become the first business to support the initiative, choosing to sponsor Marilyn’s Floral Boutique as the first official Destination within the game.
The long-established florist closed its doors in 2020. Southsea Laser Clinic, based within the Grade II listed building where Marilyn’s once stood, is proud to help preserve Portsmouth’s history, while the project supports local children through Cash for Kids.
Lisa Congdon of Cash for Kids South Coast, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with Rachel and the Destination team on this incredible project and can’t thank Rachel enough for her generosity and support. Destination Portsmouth 100 is a wonderful way to celebrate the city’s centenary while making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and families across our region. The sponsorship opportunities allocated to Cash for Kids will help us support the children who need us most.”
Destination Portsmouth100 will be launched at the close of the Portsmouth100 celebrations this Christmas. Businesses interested in sponsoring a Destination within the game should contact the Cash for Kids South Coast team at [email protected].
