Fuse’s Pete Cartlidge to host fireside chat with toy design legend Bob Brechin at Play Creators Conference 2026

Fuse’s Pete Cartlidge will host a fireside chat with toy design legend Bob Brechin at this year’s Play Creators Conference.

Bob was at Palitoy from the late 1960s to mid 1980s and became chief designer and a key figure in the development of beloved toy brands like Action Man and Action Force, as well as part of the company’s Star Wars range.

This ‘Playtime Pioneer’ session promises to be an insightful, entertaining deep dive into the craft, creativity and decisions that helped shape some of Palitoy’s most iconic creations.

“With creations like Roboskull enjoying a second life with today’s kidults – and Action Man celebrating its 60th anniversary this year – this session looks set to go beyond nostalgia and explore what truly makes a great toy?” said Billy Langsworthy of Mojo Nation, organisers of the Play Creators Conference.

He adds: “Whether you’re a designer, inventor or simply curious about the magic behind iconic toys, this session with Pete and Bob looks set to be special.”
